Raising Body Confident Kids

After nearly 15 years of working with women and adolescents, one truth stands out: our relationship with our bodies begins long before we even realize it. Often shaped in early childhood, our beliefs and self-image evolve from subtle patterns and messages. Now, as a mom myself, I’m on the frontlines—navigating it in real time. This series is here to raise awareness, provide tools, and support parents and caregivers in doing this work with intention. We’re not aiming for perfection—just more connection, understanding, and growth.

This 4-week online course is designed for parents, caregivers, and professionals who want to better understand body image—and how to nurture it in the next generation. Drawing from 15+ years of experience as a therapist specializing in eating disorders and body image, Francesca Emma, LMHC, guides you through the emotional, cognitive, and developmental foundations that shape how kids feel about their bodies.

Each 45-minute module includes a PowerPoint video presentation, a downloadable handout, and a reflective prompt worksheet.

You’ll learn:

  • What body image really is and how it’s formed

  • How different stages of development—from toddlerhood to the teen years—shape body awareness

  • What to say (and what not to say) when your child expresses body concerns

  • How to shift the language around food, movement, and appearance at home

  • Ways to become a body-positive model, even if you’re still working on your own healing

Course Breakdown:
Week 1: Foundations – What is body image, how it forms, and why it matters
Week 2: Babies to Toddlers – Building attunement and connection early on
Week 3: School-Age to Pre-Teens – Developing identity and social awareness
Week 4: Teens – Body image, autonomy, and peer influence

This is not about perfection—it’s about presence, awareness, and doing the work with intention.
